With its great range of Cultural attractions, shopping and entertainment choices Bangkok is a great place to end a Road Trip. We’ve had Road Trips from China here before but January was a first for us with eleven TATA S.U.Vs and their crews from India making Arnoma Grand in Bangkok their destination of choice!
The group was organized by the North East Federation on International Trade (NEFIT) and travelled from Guwahati in India to Bangkok via Vientiane in Laos and Mandalay in Myanmar arriving at its destination, Arnoma Grand Bangkok, on xxx January, where they took a welcome rest before heading back home. With the group scheduled to be back in Guwahati on 02 February the 6,000 KM Roundtrip was scheduled to take 23 days, with the Participants vowing to be back again next year!

In Memory of a deeply loved Monarch

October was a month of great sadness for all Thais as, after a year of mourning, it was the month when the Funeral Rites of the Late King, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, were performed. The ceremonies were held over four days and all of Bangkok and Thailand came to a halt on 26 October when the Cremation of the Late King took place. The Team at Arnoma Grand made a small contribution towards events by participating in a great “Clean Up’ campaign for the local area the day before the Royal Cremation, organised by our good neighbours at Big C, and by sending along our Culinary Team to participate in cooking free meals for some of the many thousands of mourners who attended the event. The Late King leaves a legacy that remains in the hearts of all Thais and the Funeral Rites were an opportunity for the people to pay a last, emotional farewell to their deeply beloved Monarch.
The whole month was overshadowed by the moving events related to the Late King, but October was also our Birthday Month. Everyone has a Birthday and Arnoma Grand is no different. 06 October was our 27th Birthday and of course we held a ceremony to mark the occasion, albeit in a rather more subdued fashion than in previous years. To ensure a fortuitous year ahead we held a ceremony attended by 9 Monks and presided over by our Owner’s Representative and Executive Director, Khun Chanathip Trivuth.
In October we also had a number of other remarkable occasions, but all was of very small note given the deeply sad events relating to the Royal Funeral Rites, that like the deeply beloved Late King, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will remain in the hearts and minds of all Thais, as well as all Foreigners working in Thailand, forever.

Arnoma Grand chosen as the venue for Multiple Prestigious Events in September

Arnoma Grand has two floors of Meeting Rooms, including the prestigious Arnoma Grand Ballroom, which has a high ceiling, is pillar less and can seat up to 800 in Theatre Style. Combined with our very central, easy access location, Arnoma Grand is a very popular Venue for meetings and functions of all types. In September we were fortunate to be chosen as the venue for numerous prestigious events, including functions organized by MK restaurants and the office of the Law Reform Commission of Thailand (OLRCT).
We were also honoured to welcome Khun Virat Shinvinitkul, Privy Councilor to King Rama X in the Certification ceremony for the third generation of the “Advance Corporate, Banking and Financial Service Law Programme”.

The Holistic Health Care Programme.

The demands of today’s commercial life are taxing on the mind and body. Increasing numbers of people are waking up to the fact that to enjoy work – and play – it is essential to ensure that the body is well maintained and prepared for work. Similarly, Employers are also aware that “A Healthy Workforce is a Productive Work Force”.
Particularly during the rainy season, Employers experience a high number of Employee absences owing to respiratory diseases, including colds, bronchitis and influenza. Such diseases can be prevented if we eliminate the risks beforehand.
To assist our Team Members in fighting seasonal bugs we recently arranged a lecture by the Team from The Ocean Life Insurance Company, titled “The Holistic Health Care Programme”

The Ocean Life Insurance company operates Holistic Health Care, with the aim of teaching people how to maintain their health in excellent condition and to protect themselves from the adverse effects of the current inclement weather. After the training, participants can protect themselves from respiratory diseases especially Influenza. Moreover, they also learn how to take care of their family members as well.

Arnoma Grand Bangkok is well known in the important Chinese Market – not least for its fabulous location, right in the centre of Bangkok’s best selection of Shopping. We were recently invited to participate in a Yummy Planet Promotion organised by the Agriculture Section, Royal Thai Consulate-General Shanghai, and were happy to cooperate, donating some free room nights for the lucky winners. Famous Thai dish “Pad Thai”.

Thailand’s food is one of the most popular cuisines in the world. In many cases, quick to prepare, healthy, inexpensive and tasty, there are few dishes in the world that can compare.
Pad Thai is one of the top 5 most popular street food dishes in the world. A stir-fry dish comprising of rice noodles, tofu, bean sprouts and egg, Pad Thai is one of Thailand’s best-known and most popular dishes. As with so much Thai food, this dish uses the combination of sweet, sour and salty to great effect. The contrast of textures is also important.
Soft rice noodles are flavored with a balance of sugar, tamarind and lime juice or vinegar and fish sauce. Additional ingredients depend upon what is available to the cook: pork, chicken, and/or egg, firm tofu, shrimp, crunchy bean sprouts, roasted peanuts and salty pickled radish are all popular additions. Each diner is free to adjust the dish to his taste at the table with the addition of dried ground red chilies, white vinegar, sugar and fish sauce. Fresh lime wedges usually garnish the plate.

TICA updates on Arnoma Grand and Kanchanaburi

The prestigious Industry Organisation TICA – the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association – recently held a Product Update mission to Kanchanaburi.
The Group of 35 Senior Meetings Executives met at Arnoma Grand Bangkok for Breakfast before departing for a two night stay at our sister Hotel, the Felix River Kwai Resort in Kanchanaburi. Singaporean Hospitality Students go on a learning journey at Arnoma Grand

Thailand is renowned throughout the world for the quality of its Hotels and the excellence of its Hospitality and Service Delivery, so it is no surprise that regional neighbours like Singapore are keen to learn how Thailand consistently achieves such high Guest satisfaction in its Hospitality Industry.
On 17 August, Arnoma Grand Bangkok was honoured to be the venue for a “learning journey” arranged by the Singaporean Company e2i – (the Employment and Employability Institute of Singapore) – the empowering network for Singaporean individuals and companies seeking skills and solutions for growth. The Students and their Instructors visited us to gain hospitality knowledge. The Group was interested to learn how Arnoma Grand runs our Operations, our strategy to manage business, CSR activities, Kitchen operation and Housekeeping, amongst other things.
The group was given a tour of the back areas of the Hotel and insights into the business by various Department Heads.

Arnoma Grand Bangkok’s Reservations Team – Ready to serve you

The Reservations Team is a much underrated but vital apart of the Team in any Hotel.
It’s the first point of contact with the Hotel for many Guests, and as the old saying goes “You only get one chance to make a first impression”.
The Reservations Team at Arnoma Grand handles all the Website, Email, mail and telephone
Correspondence we receive regarding reservations and, being an international Hotel, they need to be able to communicate in faultless English as well. They don’t need to know just about our Hotel Rooms, they have to be able to answer all types of queries from “How do I get to the Hotel” to “Can I arrange a surprise for my wife’s birthday”. So being a member of the Reservations Team is never dull! They also have to be able to assist Guests with payment and to be a source of exceptional knowledge in what the Hotel and the surrounding area has to offer.
All in all, it is a very demanding but interesting job and a vital part of the Hotel Operation.
